ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

B.A. Journalism or Bachelor of Arts in Journalism is an undergraduate program. B.A (Journalism, English and Psychology) at Brindavan college offers you the opportunity to pursue the undergraduate course in the fastest growing Media Hub of India, Bangalore, which will pave your way to world-class journalism and media. Journalism is the practice of investigation and reporting of events, issues, and trends to a broad audience. Along with covering organizations and institutions such as Government and Business, journalism also covers cultural aspects of society, such as Arts and Entertainment. Journalism is generally divided into two media categories – the Print and the Electronic media. Print media journalism consists of newspapers, journals, magazines, digests and news agencies. Electronic media journalism consists of television, radio and the internet. The bachelor's degree program in journalism generally involves teaching and training regarding reporting, writing, editing, photographing etc. The main purpose of this program is to teach students as of how to inform, enlighten and educate people.


Journalism

Aims at molding the student for a career in Journalism, both print and broadcasting and in allied fields like Advertising, Film, and Public Relations. The subject provides the opportunities to the students with theoretical knowledge and on the job training. It is a part of the triple main combinations in which the major papers like Reporting, Editing, Media Laws, Basic Audio-Visual Media and Media Management are provided to the students during the program. The curriculum is carefully designed to prepare students for professional careers necessary to succeed as communicators in today's changing world.


English

English has been an integral part of various walks of life and an inseparable language to attain an understanding. The three-year Optional English offers students an opportunity to understand the literary, cultural and social dynamism of different cultures. The program offers numerous employment opportunities in the field of teaching, journalism, publishing, writing, etc. Most importantly, a sound understanding of the language equips the student with communication skills, which is an indispensable part of success in any field today.


Political science

It focuses at making the student an ideal citizen with a blend of theoretical politics and practical knowledge. The course makes him to contribute more for the nation, prepares him for the competitive world to take up administrative service.

  • Finally, who can shoot, edit and tell stories using video, basic ability to create interactive story elements using adobe flash, ability edit audio and produce podcasts, ability to file from the field breaking news and ability to moderate online discussion also are good match for this graduate Journalism course.
