ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The UG Commerce & Management Department, one of the significant departments of the college was established in the year 1993. The Commerce & Management department exuberates energy, positivity and the zeal to transform. The department also has a team of well qualified, experienced and dedicated faculties, who are serving the students diligently and committed towards their all-round development. Apart from Academics, Extra-Curricular, Co-Curricular activities including and Sports are also taken up by the department. Regular Industrial Visits are organised for students, each semester, to expose them to practical learning.

The department regularly organises Guest lectures, Seminars, Student Development Programs, Orientation/ Induction Programs, Bridge Courses, Workshops on Industry related topics, Outbound Training Programs, Computer Skills and Industry oriented skills. Our Students are also provided un-conventional class rooms learning (outbound learning) wherein they demonstrate enthusiasm to learn through unconventional pedagogy, interact with speakers and get their doubts clarified. Ultimately, improvement and enhancement of students’ Academic knowledge and orient them for Industry and Life Skills for their future.

The department is renowned for organising various events and programs to facilitate overall development of the students. The focus is on tapping the potential of students in extra-curricular activities.“THE FIRM”, is a department clubestablished under the purview of the department wherein students participate in different club activities & programs like business quiz, stress interview, debate and management games and many more.

Overview

Management is the art of getting things done through others. BBA(Aviation Management) is an under-graduate Business Management course that is designed to train the students to acquire necessary managerial skills. As per the changing need of industries, to develop such skills, the students have to undertake a series of academic activities such as lectures, seminars, case studies, role plays, workshops, group discussions, quiz competitions, industrial visit etc., which expose them to the practical knowledge. In a nutshell, the course equips the students with the Managerial skills or employment in any organisation.


Outline of the Course:

The course covers all the major areas of Aviation Management, which includes the following Aviation Security and Safety Management, Aviation Law & Rules and Regulations, Air craft Maintenance Management, Cabin Crew Management, Logistics and Air Cargo Management, and also General Management like Marketing, Human Resource Management, Finance, Business Law, Banking, Computers, and Communication skills. Personality development, Management Information Systems, Taxation, Production Management etc., In each area, topics/units are arranged in such a way that the student learns from the concepts in logical style to maintain perfect harmony and continuity. Subject advancement is made in subsequently succeeding years where the students specialize in specific areas.


Prospects of the Program:

After successful completion of the BBA (Aviation Management) program, student will be able to

  • Take up professional courses such as MBA (Aviation Management) M.Com, MFA, MBA, CA, CMA, CS, Law, CFA, MCA etc.
  • Study Post-graduate diploma courses in Aviation Management, Air Cargo, Air Travel Management, Cabin Crew, Logistics, Air Craft Maintenance Finance, Marketing, HRM, Accounting, Taxation, and General Management etc.
  • Take up computer courses in Aviation Management, Accounts, Finance, MIS, e-Commerce etc.

After completion of the course, the opportunities available are as follows:

  • Work as an Officer at Air Port - Ari Cargo Manager, Air Travel Manager, Customer Safety Officer, Customer Care Officer, Cabin Crew Manager, Secretary, Accountant in Banks, Insurance, IT Sector companies, Government departments and other private companies etc.
  • Join BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) which supports Aviation Companies.
  • Start own business ventures related to Commerce and Management with reference to Aviation Management , Air Cargo, Air Travel, Safety and Regulation related to Passengers, Cabin Crew etc.,
